GM Of the Year
Daniel (Toronto)
Bold offseason moves trading vets for younger players while still trying to challenge for the cup. Presidents Trophy Winners in Y4 with 106 points. Adding Mckinnon at the deadline to bolster top 6 for a deep playoff run. Toronto did everything BUT win a cup, but one of the most epic collapses of POFHL's young history, perhaps FHL history? 2 Years in a row Toronto blows 3-1 playoff leads.
Chris (Boston)
After trading top Defensemen Korey Richardson and reigning MVP Jacob Lucas, Boston was able to add a top dman at the deadline in Evan Lovia, amongst other moves made throughout the season and offseason to squeeze into the playoffs and upset the Conference Champs the Carolina Hurricanes in quite a dominant fashion. The future looks bright with the youth and picks in Boston and somehow Chris seems to find a way to compete every year.
Carter (Carolina)
Carolina's 105 point season is second best in the league this year by only a point. Offseason moves were made by Carter to help Carolina finish in a strong position and secure home ice for the playoffs. Unfortunaltey it seems |Carolina still lacked something and wasn't able to get past the Bruins in round 1.
Evan (Atlanta)
Evan has built this team slow and steady. Good drafting and patient player development has been the key to Atlanta's success and Atlanta finished the season with 102 points, 10 points ahead of the next team. Evan addressed needs prior to the playoffs but was ultimately defeated in round 1 against the eventual Virtual Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks.
Honourable Mention:
Justin/Mike (Chicago)
Justin built his team with pride since day 1 of the POFHL. He had a vision early on and almost was able to see it through. After facing critiscm for trading Brandon Larmer to Toronto in year 1, none of his decisions can be questioned now as the Blackhawks are Virtual Cup Champions. It is unfortunate the Justin did not see out his vision, but you cannot talk about y4 GM of the Year without Justin coming to mind.
Mike, the man who won the cup. Without some key changes to the line up when all looked to be doom and gloom being down 3-1 in the finals and missing star goalie and top defensemen Mike did not let the fact that he barely knew his line up stop him. If there was a coach of the year, Mike would sure win it for Y4 dispite only being around for a week. Chicago's future is in good Hands with Mike at the helm and his name will surely be in this thread eventually for more then an honourable mention.
